Sometimes it can be really challenging to make time for ourselves and for our mental health. It's even more difficult when our identities and culture held no space for our feelings or emotions. We may have had our boundaries crossed, our feelings invalidated, felt that unrealistic expectations were placed onto us, and experienced love that was contingent on our productivity or success. At the same time, this was the norm.
We might have felt sad, but we kept it to ourselves.
We might have been hurt or traumatized, but we kept going like business-as-usual.
We might have needed help, but we felt like we needed to do it on our own.
We might have wanted to rest or slow down, but our fast-paced minds keep us up at night.
In our work together, I'll honor the past and present experiences that make you you. I'll support you in finding growth, healing, and meaningful change in your life and in your relationships. We’ll challenge the intergenerational patterns that no longer serve you, and we’ll work with the ones that do. My role is to support you in identifying your strengths, reprocess traumatic experiences, help you connect with your identity, and find ways to embody the values that mean the most to you.
As your therapist, my goal is to support you on your journey of overcoming trauma, feeling more embodied, and finding your way of living in alignment with your values.
I'll teach you skills to manage difficult emotions and mental health-related body sensations, like those associated with anxiety, depression and PTSD. I’ll support you in your relationships and help you co-create new cycles of interacting together. I also strive to hold space for you to show up as your whole self by continuing to learn/practice making this work accessible and equitable to folx of all identities.
I look forward to collaborating with you, and I am excited to walk alongside you on your mental health journey!
